Stranded Fishermen
Stranded Fishermen
Rapidograph and pen on paper
2013

A couple of fishermen are stranded on a shallow reef in the middle of the ocean. They have only been stranded there for a day and a half, but they are already both dealing with what has happened quite differently. The first, is showing clear signs of early stages of denial, and has taken his clothes off, sunbathing pointlessly on the rearranged remains of their boat. The second fisherman, a little more in touch with reality, is trying to catch fish necessary for their survival on the unwelcoming reef. He hasn’t said anything yet, but his biggest worry is the lack of water, without which they will hardly be able to survive for another two or three days.
